Located on two separate sites in Portland’s East End neighborhood (Munjoy Hill), the former Shailer School and Emerson School, both constructed in the 1890s, were converted into affordable housing with modern amenities.
The 30,000-SF buildings were converted into 39 efficiency, one-, two-, and three-bedroom units. The apartments include all new kitchens, baths, flooring, finishes, fixtures and appliances.
New common areas include a community room, computer area, and on-site laundry.
The exterior renovations included new roofs, windows, full masonry restoration and extensive landscaping improvements.
