AlliedCook served as construction manager for the conversion of Mid-Coast Hospital — a 1960s-era acute care hospital — into Mid-Coast Senior Health Center, a senior living and nursing care facility. The Center is the only facility in the Mid-Coast Maine area that offers a full continuum of healthcare and wellness services for seniors under one roof.
The 100,000-SF renovation transformed this former hospital into independent living quarters, a country kitchen, an arts and crafts room, and a private dining facility for its residents.
The Garden, a dedicated wing for the memory impaired, is a warm and inviting home for residents to reside in their own comfortable living space, which can be furnished with personal belongings. An abundance of common areas are provided to encourage activities with neighbors. The living room, dining room, den and wandering garden all are secure areas where residents may move about freely.
The project also included a 9,000-SF addition dedicated to Mid-Coast’s nursing care facility, a 21-bed residence offering the highest quality care and comfort in semi-private and private rooms.
Throughout construction, the facility operated 42 licensed nursing facility beds, as well as a fully functioning outpatient rehabilitation department.
