AlliedCook Construction and Bateman Partners, LLC were selected by New England Cancer Specialists (formerly Maine Center for Cancer Medicine) and Whipple Callender Architects to develop and construct a 15,000-SF medical office building that will bring world-class cancer treatment to York County.
The building’s site is adjacent to the Maine Turnpike Exit 25. New England Cancer Specialists and Whipple Callender Architects designed the facility as a patient-centered medical home. AlliedCook worked closely with New England Cancer Specialists, Whipple Callender and Bateman to develop a construction budget and schedule that completes the project in ten months, including design development, permitting and construction, while also delivering the client’s desired program elements within a fixed NNN 15-year lease.
The one-story, wood-framed building has a masonry brick with cementitious siding and panels. The building offers abundant natural light with a solarium/nourishment area and a spacious, comfortable treatment room, overlooking a trellised patio/healing garden, for employing the latest technologies for administering chemotherapy. The overall program includes exam rooms, laboratory and a state-of-the-art pharmacy and dispensing program. The building also has a porte chochere entry for patients and an 85-car parking lot with landscaping.
The project gained local planning board approval in August 2014. Construction began in November 2014.
